CFP: Domestic Violence in 18th-Century Literature & Law

Book: Domestic Violence in 18th-Century Literature & Law
Editor: Judith Broome
Submission deadline for abstracts: April 15, 2016
Description: »Seeking essays for an edited collection examining the representation of domestic or intimate violence in literature and/or law in the long 18th century. Before the term "domestic violence" was coined, there were behaviors, ways of speaking, issues of control, legal categories, economic conditions, and occupational relationships that bordered on violence. The essays I seek will consider early ways of representing, thinking, and talking about physical, emotional, or sexual violence within a domestic or family setting.«
